  • FDA scientists have tested hundreds of cans of tuna for mercury, and have established a daily limit for mercury intake in tuna.
  • The FDA has established "scientific guidelines" for what constitutes a "safe dose" of mercury.
  • The "scientific guidelines" do not advise women of childbearing age how much tuna they can eat and not endanger their children.
Albacore Tuna facts
  • Albacore tuna has three times as much mercury as light tuna.
  • Albacore tuna has very high mercury levels. People eating this tuna will exceed the "safe dose" levels by a wide margin.
  • It is recommended that women of childbearing age and children under 5 not eat albacore tuna at all, because it has very high mercury levels.
